History of Nelson Hall
Back in 1927, while Elim Park was still at our Shelton location, Mr. A. H. Nilson, former board member and dedicated Elim Park advocate, pledged a gift of $25,000 to the Elim Park Home of Rest. Mr. Nilson died that same year. Ten years later, his son Jacob discovered that the pledge was never fulfilled. In the tradition of the family’s integrity and generosity, Jacob fulfilled his father’s wishes by making the $25,000 gift himself. His son, Hilmer Nelson, in memory of his parents and grandparents, has made his own legacy gift to Elim Park –
the largest gift ever received to date.

In honor of Mr. and Mrs. Hilmer Nelson’s 2007 endowment to the arts at Elim Park, and the generational relationship between Elim Park and the Nelson family, the performing arts center was named Nelson Hall.
We are forever grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Hilmer Nelson and their family for their loving gifts and
genuine desire to increase the ministry of Elim Park.
