History of Elim Park

Elim Park was founded in 1907 by three Swedish Baptist churches seeking a home of rest for the elderly of their congregations.

People at Elim Park HistoryFirst located in Shelton, Connecticut, on the banks of the Housatonic River, Elim Park was a rest home, a summer camp, a weekend retreat, and even at times, a convention center for the Baptist conference. Self-sustained by a working farm, Elim Park began with an administrator who worked without remuneration, and under the leadership of a volunteer Board of Directors, who to this day, serve as gatekeepers of our mission and heritage.
